Distance Riding Class

$65 per classA credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.
DISTANCE RIDING SCHEDULE:
Fridays - Before Work BootCamp: 7AM-9AM
Sundays - Weekender Training: 7AM-9AM

How classes will work:
Every class will be run like a mock endurance race. The distance is a 6 mile ride to the top of Satterly Hill and back. The goal is to average a 6-8 min. mile (7.5 -10MPH).
The route we will take is this one: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/965806345

- Riders will be expected to catch their own horses from the field
- Baseline Vet checks will start at 7:10am. Horses will not be tacked up for vet checks. Vet checks include: baseline heart rate, in hand trot-out
- Horses must be tacked and ready to ride by 7:30am
- The ride should take 1 hour for competitors, less than 1.5 hours for non-competitors.
- Vet checks will start at 8:45am. The goal is for all horses to vet check out with no saddle sores and a heart rate under 56 bpm.
- Horses must be walked out until cool, saddle marks groomed off, and put away in their stall with a bucket of water. Their breakfast will be in their stalls so they cannot be put away until they are cool and can eat.

HORSE ASSIGNMENTS
Horse assignments are first pay, first served. Both Jen and I have the right to allow and revoke any horse assignment if we feel it is a bad choice.

COST OF ENDURANCE COMPETITION:

$200 to ride the competition.
This includes your horse, supplies, electrolytes, emergency vet supplies, horse's food for you to feed, temporary electric fence.
I have raised the price of this because I have realized that a horse participating also requires that they not work for the next couple of days. It has been unfair to the barn to charge less.

+$100 to ride with a staff member (Raevyn Saunders, Molly Reynolds)
This includes your horse, a horse for your staff member, supplies, electrolytes, emergency vet supplies, horse's food for you to feed, temporary electric fence, the support of staff member throughout the ride from start to finish.
Limit of 1 rider per staff.

+$150 to ride with Erika Eckstrom or Jennifer Marosek VanDusen
Because basically we just can't ride with everyone and we have A LOT OF OTHER THINGS TO DO!!
Limit of 1-2 riders per Jen or Erika.

COMPETITIVE VETERINARY SLUSH FUND
All riders will be expected to pay for any veterinary care that their mount requires at the race. This may include anything from IV liquids to colic care.
I am requiring this for a number of reasons:
A) It gives you an extra kick in the butt to care for your horse throughout the race and not push them to the point of veterinary emergency. This means really focusing on locating water on the trail, making your horse drink, administering electrolytes, cooling them off with sponges and buckets, checking for sores, noticing lameness, etc!!
B) It puts more importance on the conditioning of the horse throughout the summer as a well conditioned horse will not have as much problems.
C) The horse would not have the problems if it were not on the race and it is unfair for the barn to cover the added cost.

COST OF HUNTER PACE COMPETITION:

$100 to ride the Hunter Pace
This includes your horse, supplies, emergency vet supplies.

+$50 to ride with Erika Eckstrom or Jennifer Marosek
