Greenhorn Practice Lab
GREENHORN TRAINING CLASS
The best way to learn how horses are trained is to help train a horse.
Learn how to better understand the training process for green horses and expanding knowledge on horsemanship skills.
As a member of the Greenhorn Training Class, you will be able to work with our green horses in a combination of structured and independent environments. Greenhorns will work together to train and work young horses, as well as new green horses to prepare them for their lives as lesson horses.
Greenhorn Classes: $55
Lessons will always consist of two segments:
1) Horse of the Month Trajectory
2) Rotating Horses and Trainer Projects
At least one segment each class will be hands on experiences with one or multiple horses.
This year we are incredibly focused on the concept of Trajectory Training. Instead of each class being focused on one specific skill for students to learn, we are going to focus more on how a horse progresses through skillsets. Learning skill by skill, while helpful for our greenhorn trainers, is unfortunately not as helpful for the green horses who need to get their bearings by working on a progression through a course of foundational development. As a result we will be focusing on one horse each month who will participate for half of the class with the trainer that they are working with while the second half of class brings in other horses and trainers to keep developing the skills of our greenhorn trainers.
In Group Classes our horses will be used to demonstrate a variety of concepts. Demonstrations will be at all phases of training but will relate back to the foundational work.

Group Practice Sessions: $20
45 Minute Sessions on Tuesday evenings to allow people to get more supervised hands on time working on various topics and sessions.
These group practice sessions are perfect for practicing with staff supervision to make sure you are not making egregious errors, but also are fantastic for brainstorming and group discussions.
A staff member will be present at each practice session to monitor, but they will not be teaching. They will be joining in and working with their own project horse throughout the evening.

To participate in a practice session, you must have attended either the group greenhorn class or a private greenhorn session within the last two weeks. Normal lessons do not apply for qualifications to this training session.
Private Greenhorn Lesson: $45
If you feel you need more 1:1 training on the training concepts, you can always book a private greenhorn session with one of our staff members.
These private sessions are $45 for 30 minute sessions with the horse and topic of your choice.Private Lesson weeks will give every member opportunity to work on individual goals and problem solving with the training concepts and groundwork with the help of an instructor.
Private sessions are also an excellent opportunity for people to bring their own horses to the barn to work on training skills.
Register for a Private Greenhorn Lesson here.
For Private lessons you MUST sign up for a timeslot ahead of time or the instructor will not be present. Please also communicate with them so they are not surprised or miss your registration.
Please note that these are NOT PRIVATE LESSONS to teach you how to ride a horse better, these are sessions that will be developed specifically for the needs of the horses not rider improvement.

GROUP CLASSES | The monthly club includes group classes each week for a month. Classes will be focused on demonstrations of skills that are foundational to horses' learning. This would be a hands on time for instructors to demonstrate as well as provide group hands on learning. Note: Classes do not roll over from month to month and must be used the month of the membership. We are trying to encourage people to get involved on a regular basis. ˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜ |

PRIVATE CLASSES | The monthly club includes one private session. Private sessions are focused on individual goals and weaknesses. Whether it is a particular horse that a student struggles with or a skill they are struggling with (either that they want to work on or an instructor notices needs work). Note: Classes do not roll over from month to month and must be used the month of the membership. We are trying to encourage people to get involved on a regular basis. |
GROUP PRACTICE SESSIONS | The all access pass also includes 2 group practice sessions for you to come and hone your skills in the company of others. These practice sessions are a great way to try more challenging skills while being monitored by our staff and with the help and support of other greenhorn members in a fun social atmosphere. ˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜ |
TRAINING LABS | Training Labs are for CLUB MEMBERS ONLY and can not be purchased individually. Training labs are the unlimited, unsupervised practice sessions that greenhorns have to work with designated and assigned horses for groundwork and basic training skills. These are opportunities to review skills and develop the repetition needed for horses and humans to learn these foundational skills. No skill is too small to repeat and perfect! Training labs can be booked online through the FrontDesk and a staff member will assign your horse and training task. Please book these sessions at the end of your weekly class so that we can easily assign horses and tasks. Every training lab must be recorded in the schooling database in order to track horse and member progress to be discussed at meetings. We strongly encourage videotaping your session using our iPad stand or chest mount straps for instructional review.
